Today was a fairly long travel day. We left the Westfjords (after the kids made a fort-like structure in the loft), taking a 3 hour ferry across the bay/sound from the south end of the Westfjords to Stykkisholmur, which is the northern point on the Snaelfellsnes Penninsula.

Once we got off the ferry, we drove to Stykkisholmskirkja to take a look at it. The church is designed to look like a whale vertebrae, celebrating the seafaring nature of the local area.

We then went and took a short walk at Kirkufellfoss, a nice little waterfall in the shadow of Kirkufell, the highest mountain in Snaefellsnes.
Finally, we settled into our new home (for one night anyway). The little house is right on a lake, which, naturally, Ezra and Naomi immediately went out to explore. Ezra did come in to watch the second semifinal match of the 2025 Women’s Euro though! Just one more day in Iceland as we slowly make our way back down to the airport!

See you on the next mountain!
